What are Houses?
Houses are teams that are cross-team and cross-grade level. Everyone in MD Roberts will be in one of the four Houses (Red, Blue, Yellow, or Green): students, teachers, administrators, office staff, resource officer, counselors, custodians, cafeteria workers, etc. The idea is to foster a positive learning environment within our school by embracing celebrating our students, faculty, and staff through this engaging and competitive format.

What is the value?
Because houses are teams created across the “natural boundaries” that are found here (grade, team, magnet/non-magnet, gifted/honors/gen ed./special ed.) and includes all adults, they will foster a greater sense of community. This “program” allows students and adults the opportunity to have contact with peers they might not interact with under normal circumstances.

How are points earned?
House points may be earned in a variety of ways, both academic and behavioral, and are up to the discretion of the person giving them.

Example:   Each student who earns 100% on a test of quiz earns 10 house points.

House points can also be earned on house competition days (timing TBD). These days are like a mini-field day. Everyone in the building will wear their house color shirt, we will run a pep-rally schedule, and compete in games for house points.
