Hello MDR!
These are the announcements for the week of May 11th.
Mother’s Day
Happy Mother’s Day to all of our amazing mothers, grandmothers, and mother figures in the M.D. Roberts community! We thank you for your continued love, support, and dedication to our scholars.
GMAS Testing (6th & 7th Grade)
GMAS testing for our 6th and 7th grade students will continue this week. Testing will take place Monday, May 11th and Tuesday, May 12th, with make-up testing scheduled from Wednesday, May 13th through Friday, May 15th for all grade levels as needed. Please ensure that students arrive on time each day, are well-rested, and ready to do their very best.
8th Grade Spirit Week Activities
Our 8th grade students will continue participating in Spirit Week activities throughout the week as they celebrate the closing of their middle school journey. Please be sure that all attire aligns with school expectations.
End-of-Year Chorus Showcase (PAC)
On Monday, May 11th, our chorus students will host their End-of-Year Chorus Showcase at the Performing Arts Center from 7:00–8:30 PM. We invite all families to come out and support our talented scholars as they showcase their hard work.
Jr. Beta Club Meeting
On Wednesday, May 13th, there will be a Jr. Beta Club in-person meeting from 4:15–5:00 PM. Members should plan to meet in Mrs. Spraggins room 811.
8th Grade Field Day
On Thursday, May 14th, our 8th grade students will participate in Field Day from 9:00 AM–2:00 PM. Students can expect a fun-filled day of activities as they celebrate together.
Theatre Showcase (PAC)
On Thursday, May 14th, our theatre students will host their Theatre Showcase at the Performing Arts Center from 7:00–8:30 PM. Families are encouraged to attend and support our fine arts program.
8th Grade Final Walk
On Friday, May 15th, our 8th grade students will participate in their Final Walk beginning at 9:00 AM as they reflect on their time at M.D. Roberts.
8th Grade Rehearsal (JHS)
Following the Final Walk, students will attend their Moving On Ceremony rehearsal at Jonesboro High School from 9:30–10:30 AM.
8th Grade Moving On Ceremony (JHS)
On Friday, May 15th, we will celebrate our 8th grade students during the Moving On Ceremony at Jonesboro High School from 6:00–7:30 PM. This is a major milestone for our scholars, and we look forward to celebrating this special moment with families.
6th and 7th grade awards ceremonies
May 18th 6th and 7th grade awards ceremonies: 6th @ 9:15am 7th@ 11am in the MDR gym
Yearbook Available for Purchase
Yearbooks are now available on a first come, first serve basis while supplies last. Price is $40.
If you would like to purchase a yearbook, please purchase at the school.Please note the following deadlines:
- The Balfour online store closes on May 15
If you choose to order online, there is no guarantee that the yearbook will arrive before the end of the school year.

DES Parent Survey
In an effort to improve outcomes for children with disabilities within the district, the Georgia Department of Education is required to survey the families of students receiving special education services.
